Dating: How To Dress For A Date

You don't need to be told that you have to look good when going out with someone. Other than looking hot, however, you also need to keep in mind what kind of a dress code you will need, and what impression you will make depending on the outfit you wear.

Dating Dress Code For Men

When going on a very casual date to a drive-thru fast food restaurant, just go in jeans and a tee, and possibly a hooded sweatshirt. But if you're going to the movies, or anywhere with even a little class, add a nice jacket. A clean, stylish leather jacket is great for dates. Avoid wearing a tee-shirt for your date. Try a polo or a button-down. Your jeans should be dark with no holes.

Pay attention to minor details, such as having clean nails and soft skin. Give yourself a quick check-over 20 minutes before you leave for your date. File your nails if they are torn or bitten. Brush your teeth just before you leave home, and bring a tin of mints with you.

*A spritz of cologne is a nice touch, but it is better to just smell freshly showered than to use too much.

Dating Dress Code For Women

It is so easy for a woman to overdress. On a very casual date, wear a classy jean skirt. Skirts are feminine, but should definitely not be too short on a date. Your hair should be loose, yet neat. Tight updos and buns tend to be intimidating and unsexy to most men. Show minimal cleavage, but avoid being too conservative. Simple is best, even with makeup. Evening makeup can be dark and defined, but try to stick with classic, sexy colors such as black, plum, and dark green.

*Avoid wearing lipstick. Many men say that they do not like lipstick; it makes them want to avoid messing it up by kissing. A slight lip stain with lip gloss is just perfect for making the lips appear juicy and kissable.

Dating Touch-Ups

Avoid trying out a new hairstyle for your date. Plan ahead if there might be bad weather that could ruin your hair, and have a backup plan. Carry a small brush in your car or purse to quick touch-ups. Dating might involve a touch-up or two throughout the night. If you get makeup under your eyes, a tissue dipped in milk or a mild soap can work in a pinch.

Going out with someone for the first few times will be a very exciting experience. When you are carefully prepared, you will not have to worry about mishaps, and you can focus on making conversation and getting to know one another.
